Atonement

Hi my friends! Today we continue our look at what the Bible says about atonement. [1] The following verses tell us why Atonement was necessary. Isaiah 59:16,17; Luke 19:10; Hebrews 9:22,24,28.

Luke 19:10

10For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Christ alone could bear and pay our sin debt; He alone was without blemish and the only perfect one to make atonement for us.[2] The following verses tell us that this perfect atonement was once and forever. Hebrews 7:27; Heb.9:24-28; Heb. 10:10,12,14; 1 Peter 3:18. 1 Peter 3:18–For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: [3] Ephesians 5:2 tells us this atonement was acceptable to God. Eph.5:2–And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.     [ to be continued ]
