C.S. Lewis wrote these words; ” I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because of it I see everything else.”
The Bible tells us that those who have been redeemed are:
1/ We are the property of God! Isaiah 43:1But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
1 Cor.6:20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
2/ We are first fruits unto God! Revelation 14:4These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
3/ We are a peculiar people! Tutus 2:14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
1 Peter 2:9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
4/ We have assurance! Job 19:25For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Psalm 31:5Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
5/ We are sealed! Ephesians 4:30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. [ to be continued ]
Redemption O how precious and sweet a gift, the gift of eternity with Jesus and our redeemed loved ones, the children of God! The Bible describes redemption as:
a/ Precious—– Psalm 49:6They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
7None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
8(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
b/ Plenteous— Psalm 130:6My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
7Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
8And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
c/ eternal—- Hebrews 9:10Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
11But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
When we are redeemed by the blood of Christ we receive these great blessings or gifts:
Romans 3:24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Jesus along with our redemption gives justification; we stand pure before God!
Eph.1:7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Through Jesus re have forgiveness of sin and a right standing with God!
Galatians 4:4But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Through the redemption we have in Christ, we are adopted into the family of God. What an awesome family we have!

A few days ago we looked at redemption according to the Scriptures and saw that redemption is through Christ. Christ redemption set us free from the following:
1/ The bondage of the law.—Galatians 4:
1Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
2But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
3Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
4But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
2/The curse of the law— Galatians 3:
10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
3/ The power of the grave— Psalm 49:
14Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
15But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
4/ The power of sin—- Romans 6:
15What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. [ to be continued]
Redeemed or rescued from something. I love the hymn “Redeemed”! Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb; Redeemed, redeemed and forever His child I am. In the next little while we are going to open the written word of God and look at some things recorded about being redeemed.1/ God’s word defines redemption or being rescued as: 1 Cor.6: 20; 1 Cor.7:23. 1 Cor.6:20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Cor 7:23Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. We are bought or rescued from sin by God! 2/ We are redeemed or purchased by Christ [ the son of God]
King James Version (KJV)
13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Matthew 20:28Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. 3/We are redeemed by the blood of Christ! Acts 20:28Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Hebrews 9:12Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 1 Peter 1:
18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Revelation 5:9And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;. Yes, God loves us so much that He sent His Son to redeem us! Galatians 4:4But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
