Human Nature of Christ

Cross-and-TombIn the last few posts we have looked in the Scriptures and read many verses about the humanity of Christ. Today we conclude this study with a few more Bible verses about the humanity of Christ.

John 19:34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.  Christ bled as a human would!

Acts 3:15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

2 Timothy 2:Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel,  Even though He was man and died and was buried as a man, He was the Son of God and was given life again by His father!

Hebrews 726 For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens;: 28 For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law,appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.

Phil. 2:but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

1 John 3:And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

1 Peter 2:22 “Who committed no sin,
Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;

Christ had all the likeness of man except He knew no sin; He bore the sins of all mankind and they can be free also from sin, if they call upon His name.

Human Nature of Christ!

We see Jesus as being human in the following ways:

1/ Jesus got weary  as others did! John 4:Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

2/ Jesus was a man of sorrows!  Isa.53:He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

John 11:33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.

John 12:27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

3/ Jesus endured indignities! Luke 23:11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

4/ Jesus was nailed to a cross  as other men were!  Psalms 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Luke 23 :33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

5/ Jesus  suffered  death as other human beings!  John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

The Human Nature of Christ!

Cross-and-Tomb

Let us now continue our search of the Scriptures concerning this subject, beginning at:

Matt.26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. WE SEE CHRIST HAVING A HUMAN SOUL!

Luke 2:21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.  WE SEE HIS HUMANITY BY HIS CIRCUMCISION!

Lu 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.  WE SEE HIS HUMAN NATURE IN HIS GROWING AS A MAN!

Lu 19:41; Joh 11:35.

Luke 19:41

King James Version (KJV)

41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

John 11:35

King James Version (KJV)

35 Jesus wept.        WE SEE HIS HUMAN NATURE IN HIS SHEDDING OF TEARS!

Matthew 4:2 (KJV )

2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. Matt.21:18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.  WE SEE HIS HUMAN NATURE IN HIS GETTING THIRSTY AND HUNGRY!

Matthew 8:24 (KJV )

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.Mark 4:38 (KJV )

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?   WE SEE HIS HUMANITY IN HIS GETTING TIRED AND NEEDING SLEEP!

Christmas! The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given – when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes. ~Joan Winmill Brown

May you have the gladness of Christmas which is hope;
The spirit of Christmas which is peace;
The heart of Christmas which is love.
~Ada V. Hendricks

Bible Verse for today!

“And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.” Luke 1:26-28 KJV

My Favorite Psalm

Psalm 121

New King James Version (NKJV)

God the Help of Those Who Seek Him

A Song of Ascents.

121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

CHRISTMAS QUOTES

christmas-4

Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and the traveller, thousands of miles away, back to his own fire-side and his quiet home!  ~Charles Dickens, The Pickwick Papers, 1836

Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.  ~Laura Ingalls Wilder

For centuries men have kept an appointment with Christmas.  Christmas means fellowship, feasting, giving and receiving, a time of good cheer, home.  ~W.J. Ronald Tucker

Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.  ~Author unknown, attributed to a 7-year-old named Bobby

I sometimes think we expect too much of Christmas Day.  We try to crowd into it the long arrears of kindliness and humanity of the whole year.  As for me, I like to take my Christmas a little at a time, all through the year.  And thus I drift along into the holidays – let them overtake me unexpectedly – waking up some fine morning and suddenly saying to myself:  “Why, this is Christmas Day!”  ~David Grayson

Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.  ~Janice Maeditere

THE HUMAN NATURE OF CHRIST

168214_489156046043_612176043_6589453_3621087_n

Today let us open God’s word and see somethings it says about the human nature of Christ.

1 Timothy 2:For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

Hebrews 2:You have made him a little lower than the angels;
You have crowned him with glory and honor,[a]
And set him over the works of Your hands.

Galatians 4:But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born[a] of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 19–I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

His humanity was necessary to His mediational office. [ He is our mediator in Heaven at this moment]

HIS HUMANITY IS PROVEN BY:

HIS  CONCEPTION——-  MATTHEW 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.

HIS BIRTH——-     Matt. 1:And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.   25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son.[a] And he called His name Jesus.

Luke 2:And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.  11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

He was flesh and blood— John 1: 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Hebrews 2: 14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
