800-thanksgiving2 Humility according to the Scriptures continued:

Matthew 5:3—– Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Humility shown by Christ:  Philippians 2:7; Hebrews 2:16— He came from His heavenly home and be came a servant, a lowly man. We see this in Luke 2:4-7. He was born in a stable to humble parents!

He showed humility in his subjection to His parents.—— Luke 2:51.

” Humility is the foundation of all values hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist there can not be any other virtue except in mere appearance.” –Saint Augustine—

AFTERNOON STROLE

Hiking_Trail_1

It was late afternoon,

the sun was high,

high in the sky,

and in a maple tree,

a robin sang near bye.

The snow was melting,

mud is everywhere,

I hear a hawk cry,

it is high in the air.

Just over the ridge,

I hear a partridge drum,

calling for a mate,

and hoping she will come.

Everywhere I look,

I see the sights of spring,

and say thank you,

to my Savior and King!

OUR DAILY BREAD

800-thanksgiving2

Our daily bread means more than a nice slice of whole wheat bread covered in strawberry jam, in the Bible it is often used to illustrate other things and today we are going to look at a few of these things:

a/Christ is the bread of life.John 6:33-35 King James Version (KJV) 33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.  In these verses we have two types of bread mentioned, physical and spiritual. Jesus is our spiritual bread of life.

b/Bread represents the broken body of Christ. Matt.26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 1 Cor.11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

c/[ partaking of bread ] Communion or fellowship of Saints.  Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,  1Cor.10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

d/[ want of bread ] Extreme poverty. Proverbs 12:He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread. Isaiah 3:In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people. Today we see extreme poverty and the need for both physical and spiritual bread, spiritual bread is needed to save the souls and spirits of mankind!

e/ [ fulness of bread ] Abundant life. Ezek.16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.  John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  Jesus is the only bread that can satisfy our spiritual hunger!

My Observations: Humility [ according to the Scriptures]

800-thanksgiving2 Humility: ” Humility does not mean thinking less of yourself than of other people, nor does it mean having a low opinion of your own gifts. It means freedom from thinking about yourself at all.”    —- William Temple

Christ is our perfect example.——– Matt.11:29; John 13:14,15; Phil. 2:7,8.

Humility is a part of a Saints Character—- Psalm 34:1-4.

Humility is respected by God.————— Psalm 138:6; Isaiah 66:2.

The humble shall be lifted up and saved.— Job 22:29.

” Lord, where we are wrong, make us willing to change; Where we are right, make us easy to live with.”——– Peter Marshall                                   [ to be continued ]

THE PRECIOUSNESS OF CHRIST

th (8)

Today we are looking at Bible verses about the preciousness of Christ:

1/ Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.     1 Peter 2:To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,  CHRIST IS PRECIOUS TO GOD!

2/ Phil. 3:Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,  1 Peter 2:Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,.  CHRIST IS PRECIOUS TO ALL WHO BELIEVE!

CHRIST IS PRECIOUS ON ACCOUNT OF HIS:

a/ GOODNESS AND BEAUTY — Zech. 9:17 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.

b/ EXCELLENCE AND GRACE — Psalms 45:  Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

c/ NAME — Hebrews 1:Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

d/ ATONEMENT — 1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:  Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

e/ HIS WORDS — John 6:67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

f/ PROMISES — 2 Peter 1:Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

g/ HIS CARE AND TENDERNESS — Isaiah 40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.  O, how sweet to trust in Jesus!

h/ HE IS THE CORNER STONE OF THE CHURCH — Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.  1 Peter 2:Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

i/ SOURCE OF ALL GRACE — Col. 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

j/ UNSEARCHABLE RICHES — Eph. 3:Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
