Mindful Things

I am sitting,

sitting quietly,

thinking about special things,

how the ticking of the clock,

marks the passing of time,

as our hope,

looks toward a better future,

than the present circumstances

we can leave behind,

I think of the Bible,

the word of God,

and it’s guidance,

as we travel this sod.

I think of my many blessings,

a dear wife,

four dear children,

and five grandchildren,

how they brighten my life.

I think of my friends,

how special they are to me,

you might say,

my extended family.

I think of my God,

the Creator of all things,

the Lord of Lords,

and the King of Kings.

I think of His love,

for a sinner,

a sinner such as I.

I think of how,

He sent His Son Jesus,

to this wicked earth,

to walk, to teach, to die,

that through His blood,

salvation was granted,

to the sinners,

sinners such as I.

I am sitting here thinking,

that one thing,

should always be on my mind,

God’s great love for me,

and His love for all mankind.

Rainy Day

beaver-dam-construction

Rainy Day
I am gazing,
gazing out my window,
the rain is pouring down,
making large puddles,
covering a lot of ground.
The wind is blowing,
blowing the limbs,
up and down,
and the birds are nestled in the branches,
finding shelter from the rain,
the rain pouring down.
The rainy day ,
makes me lazy,
as in the house,
I find shelter,
shelter from the rain,
the rain pouring down.

THE SUNRISE

The night was long,

And the pain was strong,

It seemed like an endless night,

Then as I wiped the tears away,

And looked at the eastern sky,

I saw that beautiful sunrise,

Transforming that dreary night,

Into the most wonderful day.

Our spiritual life is much the same,

We were lost in sin,

Our soul groaned in pain,

God sent His Son,

Into the world,

As the everlasting light,

Transforming our dark soul

And giving it eternal life.

Thank God for the sunshine,

That transforms  night into day,

And thank Him for His Sonshine,

That  guides us the heavenly way!
