The Bible tells us we are atoned by the the work and sacrifice of Christ on the CROSS AT CALVARY. Some folk try to find atonement by other means but we are told by God’s word that it is through Christ alone. Today I share the following verses with you telling us that truth.

noun
1.
satisfaction or reparation for a wrong or injury; amends.
2.
( sometimes initial capital letter ) Theology . the doctrine concerning the reconciliation of God and humankind, especially as accomplished through the life, suffering, and death of Christ.

When I think about the word atonement, I see Christ hanging on that old rugged cross. today let’s start by looking at the following verses about atonement.

Romans 5:8-11

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Galatians 4:1

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

4 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;

1 John 2:2

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

2 and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

1 John 4:10

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

In the above verses we have atonement explained!
