PONDERING!

letter_writing

I am sitting pondering about the chains and burdens sin can cause in a humans life and remembering the night Jesus set me free in the fall of 1958. This is expressed nicely in the following song recorded by my friend Lynda; I trust you will enjoy and if your burdens have not been lifted at Calvary, I pray you will pass them to the one that can carry you to freedom, Jesus is His name.

WORDS ARE POWERFUL

Words are special, powerful indeed, they can sooth a broken heart, when positive words we feed. Words spoken wisely, help heal broken souls; words guide our foot steps, as we walk toward our goals. Words spoken carelessly, wound innocent hearts; once spoken can not be retrieved, we may say we are sorry, but forgiveness is hard to receive. Think before we speak, let this our motto be, use words to lift others up, giving them dignity.

GOD CALLS US TO WAIT!

Zephaniah 3:8

Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

GOD ENCOURAGES US TO WAIT ON HIM!

King James Version (KJV)

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. —37:Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

i TRUST YOU WILL BE ENCOURAGED  AS WE WAIT FOR THE RETURN OF CHRIST!

WAITING UPON GOD!

AS believers we daily wait upon others especially our God. Today we continue our peak into the Bible to see more things we wait upon God for:

a/ Protection—Psalm 33:20 Authorized (King James)

20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord:
he is our help and our shield.

Psalm 59:9-10  Because of his strength will I wait upon thee:
for God is my defence.
10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me:God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

b/ The fulfillment of His word.— Habakkuk 2:3  For the vision is yet for an appointed time,
but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:
though it tarry, wait for it;
because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

c/ The fulfillment of His promises. Acts 1: 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith heye have heard of me.

d/ Hope of righteousness by faith.— Gal.5:For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

WAITING UPON GOD

As God’s children we wait upon Him for:

a/ MERCY—Psalms 123:2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

b/ Pardon—Psalms 139; 7-8 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.8 Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.

c/ The consolation of Israel.— Luke 2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

d/ Salvation.— Gen.49:18  I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD. Psalms 62:1-2 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. 2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

e/  Guidance and teaching. Psalms 25:5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Waiting upon God.

Sometimes we humans are impatient creatures and get weary for the flowers to bloom and song birds to sing  so in he next few posts I am going to some verses from the Bible about waiting upon God.

Jeremiah 14:22

King James Version (KJV)

22 Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O Lord our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.

In the verse above we see the providence of God!

Psalm 25:5

King James Version (KJV)

Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.  Trusting in God is the only hope of salvation we have.

In the following verse we see God As the Giver of all temporal blessings.

Psalm 104:27

King James Version (KJV)

27 These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.

Psalm 145:15-16

King James Version (KJV)

15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.

16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

FAVORITE BIBLE VERSES

Today I am sharing my father’s favorite Bible passage!

Isaiah 53

King James Version (KJV)

53 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lordrevealed?

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
