My Creator: Looking out my window, what wonders I see, Chickadees and Blue jays at my feeder, Woodpeckers and Nuthatches in my tree. I see the hills of beauty, evergreens covered in snow, and I think about the riches, God, our creator bestows. He sent His Son, Jesus, born in a stable, a King in a manger, the wise men came to see; He came to earth as a baby, because He loves you and me. He lived many years as a carpenter, repairing broken things, and at the age of thirty, He taught the good news, that only God’s word can bring. He healed the blind, the deaf, and the lame, and those the devil possessed, at the tomb of Lazarus He wept, He brought the dead to life, because to Him they only slept. After His ministry was complete, He was betrayed by Judas, and to Roman soldiers given, He died for our sins, so those who believe, will go to Heaven. ~ Winston Staples
Today’s word we are exploring is the word DOUBT, something we all have experienced in our life, some more than others. The dictionary says doubt is:a/ [noun]
Genesis 3:1-6King James Version (KJV)
3 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. [ I believe doubt to be the sin that started man’s downfall.]
Gen.21:6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age. [ Sarah doubted God’s message ].
Numbers 11:21 And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.22 Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? [ Moses doubted God’s provision ].
Mark 8:17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened? 18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve. [ The disciples doubted Jesus could feed all the people ].
Luke 1:18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. [ Here we see doubt that God could do as the Angel said!]
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [ those who doubt the truth about God’s Son will not be saved ][ unless they repent ].
John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. [ Thomas doubted until he saw ].
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. [ we are to ask not doubting when we pray ].
