EXPLORING GOD’S WORD [56]

Act 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.I am really enjoying sharing these posts with  you and pray they are blessing you as you read from the Bible. Today’s topic is the universality of Gospel. How far can God’s word travel? Let us look into God’s word to find the answer.

*UNIVERSALITY OF GOSPEL

  • Isaiah 53:12 For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the Lord will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your reward. [ You will find out that no matter where you go God has been and is there].
  • Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
  • Acts 1:But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.  [ Acts 16: 1-10 ]

    16 1/ Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:

    Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.

    Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.

    And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.

    And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

    Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,

    After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

    And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.

    And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

    10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

  • 2 Cor.10:15 Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,16 To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand.
  • 1 Timothy 2: For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

How far is the spread of the Gospel? It is to be taken everywhere we go; to the width, length, depth and height of the earth and beyond!

EXPORING GOD’S WORD [55]

Today’s topic is repentance, something we all must do if we want to be saved from our sin and return to fellowship with God the Father, Jesus the SON and the Holy Spirit. The word repent means, deep sorrow or contrition for past sin or wrong doing. So, let’s open our Bibles and read the following verses, underlining the things that speak to you.

  • 2 Chronicles 7:14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
  • Psalms 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
    A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
  • Psalms 107:10 There were those who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death,
    Prisoners in misery and chains,
    11 Because they had rebelled against the words of God
    And spurned the counsel of the Most High.
    12 Therefore He humbled their heart with labor;
    They stumbled and there was none to help.
    13 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
    He saved them out of their distresses.
    14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death
    And broke their bands apart. —-17 Fools, because of their rebellious way,
    And because of their iniquities, were afflicted.
    18 Their soul abhorred all kinds of food,
    And they drew near to the gates of death.
    19 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
    He saved them out of their distresses.
    20 He sent His word and healed them,
    And delivered them from their destructions.
  • Joel 2:And rend your heart and not your garments.”
    Now return to the Lord your God,
    For He is gracious and compassionate,
    Slow to anger, abounding in loving kindness
    and relenting of evil.
  • Acts 8:22 Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours,and pray the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you.
  • 2 Corinthians 7:10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
  • 1 John 1:If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The above verses were taken from the American Standard Version; I trust they will be a blessing to you.

EXPLORING GOD’S WORD [54]

* Wisdom……Today so many people are seeking knowledge and wisdom, often in the wrong places. Some people obtain knowledge but fail to have the wisdom to use it correctly.

Let’s look at the following Bible verses about knowledge and wisdom:

  • Proverbs 1:The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. [20-22]20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

    21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

    22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

  • Proverbs 4: Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
  • Luke 2: 39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

A FAVORITE PSALMS!

Two Roads There are two main roads, main roads in life I am told, one leading upward, to streets of gold. The other wide, and spiraling downward to eternal torment and forever bound. So choose the straight and narrow road, where Jesus leads us upward, to Heavens streets, many streets of gold.

Psalm 23 (KJV)

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

EXPLORING GOD’S WORD 53!

TOPIC: Road to Salvation
There are so many roads in life to travel, some good and some bad. One road is straight and narrow and few find it, it leads to Heaven. Another road is wide and many on it and it leads to destruction. The road we are looking at in this brief study, is the road to Salvation, This road we look at today is called the ” Romans Road”!

  • Romans 3: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
  • Romans 5:But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
  • Romans 6: 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • Romans 10: 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

    12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

    13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If anyone asks about the way of Salvation, the Romans road is a great place to start!

THIS DAY!

This day is cloudy,

this day is drear,

this day God made,

this day is dear!

This day,

my dear wife,

got me outside,

to see the high water,

as we took a drive.

This I smile,

this day I am glad,

God gave us His SON,

no better gift to receive,

from our Potters hands;

This day let’s rejoice,

across our God given land!
