EXPLORING GOD’S WORD [66]

Signs of Repentance   a/ Reformation of life —-Matthew 3:Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

b/ Restitution—- Luke 19:And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

c/ Godly sorrow —- 2 Cor.7:Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

This concludes our brief study on repentance; I trust you enjoyed reading the verses!

EXPLORING GOD’S WORD [65]

PRODUCTS OF REPENTANCE:    a/ Life—– Acts 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. [Note the phrase repentance unto life!]

b/ Remission of sin—— Mark 1:John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

c/ New Spirit—– Ezekiel.18: 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

d/ New Heart—— same verse as above. Note: and make you a new heart and a new spirit:

e/ Joy—– Luke 15:I say unto you, that likewise[joy ]shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. 10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is [joy] in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

JUST THINKING!

I watch up the old country road through my study window and my mind slips back into a time of the past. My brother and I would walk down this same road and watch the pheasants and rabbits walk through the bushes and across the icy patches this time of year; we was on our way down to our friends to play hockey on a large pond by his house. I long sometimes to play on that pond and enjoy the fellowship of all my friends. Oh how I enjoyed my childhood!
