On this wonderful January day of the year 2020, I am thinking about the church of today where hymns and choruses are seen on overhead screens by present day technology. Today hymn books are hardly used anymore and the good old blood sacrifice of Christ hymns for our sins are all about forgotten. I penned a writing a few years ago on this subject and I share them now.
Some folks seem to be offended by singing about the blood and want hymns that sing about the blood of Christ removed. Hymns like, ” Redeemed, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb”; There is power in the blood”; ” Alas! What a beautiful morning,
the sun is shining bright,
it makes my heart sing,
as it removes the darkness,
and reveals it’s marvelous light.
The bright reflection on the water,
shines so brightly in my eyes,
and in the pines, a lonesome dove,
makes it’s lonely cry, but off to the right,
I hear a robin sing,
cheer up, cheer up, it is spring!
