Matthew 4:1-10. Jesus resist temptation!
Verse one: Jesus is led by the Spirit. He obeys the Spirits leading on a mission, the mission of being tested by the devil. Verses two and three: Jesus had fasted for forty days and was tired and hungry and that is when the tempter or Satan came and he still does that today, he strikes us at our weakest moments, we must stay alert and be aware of that sly fox and roaring lion. He tempted Jesus to turn stone into bread. Note in verse four Jesus uses the word of God to fight the tempting of the devil. Verses five and six the devil tempts Jesus again and again Jesus uses the Scriptures to fight Satan and the third time, Jesus uses the word of God for victory over temptation and as Jesus did so must we use the power of God’s word for victory over our enemy the devil.
Psalms 40:8; John 4:34 and John 15:10 tell us Jesus was always obedient to the will of The Father. Psalms 40:8I delight to do Your will, O my God; yes, Your law is within my heart. John 4:34Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. John 15:10If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. Jesus not only obeyed His Father but He did it with joy! Yes, my friend, we find joy in serving our Lord!
