THIS OLD PEN
This old pen,
has penned many words,
words to encourage,
words to cheer,
words to sing,
words that are dear.
This old pen,
has penned about trees,
about the clouds,
and the sounds,
of the birds and bees.
This old pen,
has penned about God,
about Jesus His Son,
about His gift of salvation,
I pray it for everyone.
Yes, this old pen,
has penned many words,
some over and over again,
like, red, white, and blue,
and, I love, I forget,
and I forgive you.

22 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
2 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
19 But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
23 Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 For the kingdom is the Lord’s: and he is the governor among the nations.
29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
Today we will look at a few more Scripture verses that tell us about The providence of God.
1/God provides daily support!
2/We see God’s providence in all things!
3/His providence is unbeatable! Proverbs 21:30 (KJV) There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.
4/ Man’s work is in vain without the providence of God!
127 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
AS SAINTS WE SHOULD:
a/ Trust in God’s providence! Matt.6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God[a] and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. 34 Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matt 10:9 Don’t take along gold, silver, or copper for your money-belts. 29 Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny?[a] Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s consent.[b]30 But even the hairs of your head have all been counted. 31 So don’t be afraid therefore; you are worth more than many sparrows.
b/ Commit their works to His providence! Proverbs 16:3 Commit your activities to the Lord,
and your plans will be achieved.
c/Encourage one another by the providence of God!
1 Samuel 30:6 David was in a difficult position because the troops talked about stoning him, for they were all very bitter over the loss of their sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
d/ Pray depending upon the providence of God! Acts 12:5 So Peter was kept in prison, but prayer was being made earnestly to God for him by the church.
We know the rest of that story that he was set free by God and showed up at that prayer meeting as they prayed.
Today we are continuing looking at Scripture verses about the providence of God, I trust you will be enlightened.
God’s providence is for:
a/ for His glory— Isaiah 63:14 As a beast goes down into the valley, And the Spirit of the Lord causes him to rest,
So You lead Your people,
To make Yourself a glorious name.
b/ for good of the Saints— Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
c/ to be acknowledged:
1/ prosperity— Deut.8: 18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
2/ adversity— Psalms 119:15 I will meditate on Your precepts,
And contemplate Your ways. Job 1:21 And he said:“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;
Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
As we seek and focus on how much Jesus loves us and how much God His Father loves us and provided through the blood of His only Son a way back into fellowship with Him. Today we look at more Scripture about His providence.
A/ Psalms 145:17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
Daniel 4:37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD IS RIGHTEOUS!
B/ Psalms 1214 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. [KJV.]
3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.
139 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
D/ Psalms 36:6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast. 73:16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; 77:19 Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known. Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD IS SOMETIMES DARK AND MYSTERIOUS!
THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD IS ALL PERVADING!
Serving God: Requirements to serve. a/ Fear—- Psalms 2:11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
b/ Walking Upright—- Psalms 101:6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
c/ Loyalty—- Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
d/ Regeneration—- Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
e/ Serve the Lord—- Romans 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
f/ Be Humble—- Acts 20:19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:
g/ Do All Things in Love—- Gal.5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Serving God: Rewards for service [a] Divine honor—- John 12:28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
[b]Acceptance before God—- Romans 14:16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
[c] Inheritance— Col.3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
[d] Eternal blessedness—- Rev. 7:15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. [ Rev. 22: 3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:]
